“MII Ret Cam” – World First Smartphone Based Fundus imaging device with Capability of Imaging Peripheral Retina”

Smartphone has revolutionized the fundus imaging in recent past. Researchers have been successful in making smart phone based cameras and devices with the ability to image limited area of fundus.  We have designed the device and the imaging technique that can image regions of peripheral most retina such as ora serrata and even further till pars plana. Furthermore this technique does not require any app to be used that was described by previous researchers.

Device is named as MII Ret Cam ( Make In India Retinal Camera). Following are the founders of the Device and Imaging Technique ( Dr Ashish Sharma MD,  Guruvayoorappan K B Tech,  S Saranya Devi M Tech., K I Ramachandran PhD). The entire group belongs to Coimbatore, TN,  India.

Device is an effort to help ophthalmologist in their early career by providing an inexpensive tool that has a potential of mass screening. Founders of the device and technique has mentioned that it is a nonprofit effort to help clinicians worldwide.

Dr Ashish Sharma MD from Lotus Eye Hospital and Institute, Coimbatore will be giving first practical Demo at upcoming Bangalore Ophthalmological Society annual conference to be held at ITC Gardenia, Bangalore on June 21-22.
